For years, Lebanon has been in political crisis. Civil war, political assassinations and all-out war with Israel shattered any hopes of peace this tortured nation may have had. Until now. Within days, leaders from all the parties gathered in Doha and reached a momentous agreement. Lebanon: The Audacity of Hope with Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera's senior political analyst, asks if the agreement will hold and if it could be a model for the region.
"Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they had been wrong all along."
Isn't he talking about himself?

I will also add that the reason that we still seem to hang on to the reputation "Failed State" is because it is in the interest of so many regional and world powers to have the world perceive us that way. Not that any of us care what the world thinks..

Sawyer,
Everybody knows Lebanon's past. But Lebanon oday is very different. Anyone who has been to Lebanon, since even the last years of the waning Civil War, will tell you that this title doesn't reflect Lebanon AT ALLL!
I still maintain that Lebanon is THE most normally functioning country in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
Anyone who disagrees should join he hundreds of thousands of foreign tourists who come every year to see the truth for themselves...

Lebanon is one of the foremost failed states and only sudan and Iraq surpass lebanon on that scale and considering the fact that lebanon has had war and comunal violence and tension for over 20 years exaserbated why outside powers it would be fair to say that lebanese are haveing the audacity to to hope although i totaly agree that this would be a better title to the arab leage and organisation that only discuses with on another where they are going to travel during ramadan so they dont fast

"The Audacity of Hope"???
What a disgusting and condescending name for a report about Lebanon...
A better report to label "The Audacity of Hope" would be a report about the Arab League.
Lebanon Functions more normally than any other country in the arab world, without anyone's help or permission. This is despite the fact that we have been a dumping ground and a battle ground for Arab problems for 35 years.
I am very disgusted that an Arabic channel would use such a title.
