The bridges were originally constructed for the cancelled North Western Freeway. this video features 2 of the 5 completed parts of the NW Freeway. THe North Western Freeway was starting to get built, but when the first stage was built from Ultimo to Pyrmont Bridge Road, There was protests, 11 people got arrested, in response, the Gough Whitlam Labor Government threatened to cut off 42 Billion dollars in Funding if the NSW Government continued, as a result, Construction is Suspended, then cancelled by the Neville Wran Labor Government, leaving the Western Distributor, ANZAC, Gladesville, Tarban Creek and Fig Tree Bridges connecting to existing Arterial Roads such as Victoria Road, but in some places, like shown in this video, Freeway Grade.
The M2 Hills Motorway has been since built from Epping Road to Seven Hills, then the Westlink M7 Continues on from Seven Hills to Dean Park (before turning sharply to the South to run along the Eastern side of Plumpton, Oakhurst, Hassall Grove, Western Side of Glendenning, before going on the Old Phillip Parkway Corridor at Rooty Hill, then continues on to Camden Valley Way/M5 Junctions) leaving an Unused Corridor going to Londonderry, Near Richmond, at the foot of the Blue Mountains, running through the Western Suburbs of Marsden Park, Riverstone, Hassall Grove, Bidwill, Shalvey before turning abruptly at Llandilo, running through Berkshire Park and Shanes Park.
