Man, I would have loved being a passenger on this train moving up the BNSF Peavine in Orion, IL. Amtrak 40th Anniv 156 (Phase 1) and 66 (Phase 2) lead with MKT, Milwaukee Road and Rio Grande scenic cars. Headed to the train festival in Rock Island, IL 7/21/2011.
Beautiful!!!

Now if they attached a cabless P42DC instead of #66 we'd have a true streamliner!

Was that the "Hiawatha"?
In 1953, when I was seven years old, after taking a train from Grammaw and Grampaw's house in Owensboro, Kentucky, Mama and us kids rode the "Hiawatha" between Chicago and Seattle, where we boarded the USNS GENERAL M.M. PATRICK to sail to Yokohama, Japan to go live with Daddy at Ashiya Air Force Base on the island of Kyushu.
I remember that solarium lounge car on the end of the "Hiawatha", for we spent a lot of time there.

I was on that today. Overall, it was fun. Got a chance to ride in both Super Dome and Cedar Rapids. The last the of the the trip however, felt like it went on and on. Still, glad We made it to Train Festival.
