"i dont like it, because its far too mainstream" mainstream isnt bad, whats bad, is if they COMERCIALIZED to become mainstream. if there was a band, that maintained its indie roots, and its own distinct sound, and became mainstream, but didnt COMMERCIALIZE then its not a bad thing. commercializing is the devil, but becoming mainstream, is just a sign of success.

i agrees with you, and the world is almost filled with ppl and kids trying, rather than being. even famous ppl copy eachother just as easy as our society is influenced as well.so i think everyone should find their true selves. im glad you made this video.

@EdgeOfTheInternet you're right, although i don't know any people like that because i hardly know anyone that listens/listened at some point to unknown music. :))

THANK YOU this is all that is going on at my school im so sick of people doing this and what your saying is just TRUE ! :L !!!!!!!!!!!

so true. for example, i've really liked the band warpaint for aaages, like, back when NOBODY had heard of them. and while i admit that they still aren't huge, i was so happy when i saw their music video on the tv, cos i was happy for them getting noticed, and happy for other people finding them who would then get to enjoy their music just as i'd been. and if they get even bigger, i'll be even happier :)
i don't think that i am a hipster/indie kid just because i listen to "unknown" music. and i totally agree with everything you just said. i don't listen to most of the popular music because i don't like the attitude that it is made with and most of all i don't like the sound. can't help that. and by the way, i don't really think that most bands change when they get popular. at least not the good ones. and when they change, then in a good way.

@TheAdaization I listen to LOADS of unknown music. And I don't like much music that's popular at the moment.
But I know a lot of people that stop listening to bands just because other people start listening to them and I think that's just silly.

You know whats annoying? You! :D I get your point and some of it is true. But you don't need to say stuff like that. Not ALL Indie lovers are like that. We hate it when Indie bands go mainstream not because they would get 'popular', its because some Indie bands (when they go mainstream) leave the Indie genre. Look at Greenday. They WERE playing Indie music but transitioned to mainstream rock after gaining popularity. The Killers are mainstream but I still love them because they sticked to Indie.

@architectjeigh Well then clearly this video isn't aimed at you because I was reffering to the type of person I have personally met who DO only go off bands when they become popular. People like that do exist, and those are the people I was referring to.

Yeah, but half the time, when people criticize artists they were fans of for 'going mainstream', its because the album that (perhaps coincidentally) resulted in 'mainstream' level of popularity is full of bad music or a direction that isn't true to the material that made one a fan of the artist in the first place?
And most indies/hipsters who 'snobbishly' calling 'mainstream' bad are simply having a better taste in music most of the time and need a label for what they generally feel is rubbish.

@Wengl3 That may be so, but I've met a lot of people that just have a problem with other people liking the music they like. For example, a song comes out a year ago, then is in a film or something and as a result gets hugely popular a year later -All of a sudden you get people going "I liked that last year!" and then all of a sudden, because other people like it, they don't anymore.
