  • Her lyrics are incredible. This song in particular is so haunting...even after all these years it still takes me to the exact same place.....

  • @MrBusterfoot You are right- I'm a singer and Joni was my first idol. Ricki Lee is not even on the same planet. There are times when Ricki rather looked like Joni with the long curly or long straight hair but even if she loved Joni, there is nothing in her music remotely like Joni. Ricki's well of creativity is darker, far more street and absolutely positively unique. Joni's is positively unique, as well- just completely different.

  • The way to Coolsville.............

  • "The real thing come and the real thing go...."

  • Who cares what clothes they wore or not? We are not talking about super models here!

I wonder whey they never performed together? (Did they?) I think JM would be regarded as the more 'accomplished' artist but I'd rather listen to Rickie any day.

JM may be slick and technically competent but Rickie is pure Soulsville!

  • I don't think Joni Mitchell influenced the work of Rickie Lee Jones, but I know for sure that she influenced Karen Carpenter, because early in her career Karen wore bangs and Joni had always worn bangs, not quite the same as Joni, but just like Joni, so they were a lot alike, but not in everything, but they were.

  • @JimNKnoxville Jim, I have no idea why you have a stick so far up your bee-hind regarding my opinion but I'm anything but uninformed. Your anger over my opinion is just weird. Kindly stop bothering me.

  • @Bowskeecho A true catharsis would come with the end of rambling, uninformed opinions such as yours. But that's not likely to happen, is it?

  • @JimNKnoxville Well Jim, I'm certain it was important to you to share your opinion. Hope it was cathartic.

  • @Bowskeecho You're an idiot. You can't even spell "Rickie" correctly.

  • Rickie's got the truest lyrics I ever heard (and I'm a huge fan of Tom Waits and Bob Dylan), her words cut right to the listener's heart and soul and tell them the naked truth about everything she's ever thought and felt. Her music is bewitching.

  • Definitely haunting. An incredible talent, style and deep dark lyrics. Amazing blues talent.
