Fantastic!!--Listen up people...because you'll never see (or hear) the likes of Marion, Mahalia, Clara, Sister Rosetta, Dorothy Love Coates, Roberta Martin and others again! ( At least on this earth!)
This was authentic black gospel and spirituals as they may have sounded when our enslaved ancestors sang out their pain & anguish all those years ago!--It gets down inside you and haunts you forever!

Lots of critics have said this is one of the greatest vocal performances on record. Those lines about "death disrobing us all of what we now possess" chill me to the marrow. Every time I hear this my heart breaks for all those we've lost. And this July 4th weekend, we honor over 4000 kids killed for nothing in Iraq. Whenever I have to argue that gospel can hold its own with any form of music l play this record. And doesn't Gladys Gordon, Philly's piano queen, support Mother Williams!

@ministerkareemc Im glad im not the only one who disagrees with this new age foolishness that they call gospel. I always tell people the god moves and dwells in the old song not this new stuff. I haven't live in the old times but anything old times i can feel a difference. Im ashamed of my generation

I just read that in one of the articles that I read about her. I have been listening to alot of her music lately, and I've looked up every article that I could find on her. I took particular note to one of the articles that talked about the fact that despite being known worldwide, she still served faithfully in her role as a mother in the church. Did you know her? My heart is hurt that I never got to meet her.

@joshuathemusician..
We'll lay our garments by,
Upon our beds to rest,
Old death shall soon disrobe us all,
Oh what we now possess,
