you can either paddle if its a plain kayak with no outriggers or pedal there are pedals for the hobie pedal drive system which is easier and faster then peddling. and for the wind problem you should know the tides and fronts to see if you'll have wind on the return

What are your thoughts on using the adventure island for a long distance trip, say North Carolina to Florida? Do you think this is plausible in this craft?
It appears there's a GPS mounted on the left side. That would have the MPH, but it's too blurry to see.
