ps i am a closet nerd and an open gamer and hav but 1 question how come the latter isnt as condemned? pss i dont like comics bcuz as a quiet and calm individual i cant see myself hanging wit the more eccentric and energetic/sad depressing comic bookers and anime kids at my school. psss dont know y i said all that but f**k it send.

The other reasons that Japanese manga sell so well is because everyone in Japan reads manga. You will maybe find a handful of people who don't. Not to mention, you get more for your money, I don't mind if it's in b&w, they can tell a great story without color. And they're all self contained. With comics, you don't know what character is where, but manga don't usually have crossovers to sell books, they don't need it. And it's usually one dude sitting in his room making 20 pages a week.

When you read a traditional novel, what does it have in it that makes it so popular? Thought provoking content and relatable characters. Besides good artwork we need better storyline.

When I go to the book store, there will be 3 large sections of manga, and only like a half a section of American comics. And I do get disappointed because I love american comics.

The reason why japanese comics are so popular in japan is because it's well drive and well respect in their culture. I believe deeper story line and deeper character development will save american comics.
