DEREK LYONS ' ZENSWIM' (Copyright) MEDITATION/MARTIAL ART

In 2001 I became a Swimming Teacher and taught very successfully for 6 years as a Triathlon Pyramid Training Coach for the Swimming part. During 2001 this name popped into my head , so I put to words together ZEN and SWIM.

I also have been interested in Eastern belief since 1974 and have studied Buddhism, Hinduism and read many books by Robert Watts,Morihei Ueshiba,Krishnamurti and of course BRUCE LEE'S TAO OF JEET KUNE DO.

I was very lucky indeed to have met Linda Lee in 1975, London, Mayfair at W. H. ALLEN AND CO , 44 Hill street, WIX 8LB.

Linda's Book was called The Life and Tragic Death of Bruce Lee.

Carried her two bags up 4 flights of stairs. When I looked closely at the two suitcases it had the initials B L in Gold, Bruce's personal cases!! Still have her signed book!

So mixed with my Martial Arts training of over 30 Years Including WU SHU KWAN, TAI CHI, AIKIDO, BOXING ,TOMIKI AIKIDO and FENCING . I have created my own style called ZENSWIM(COPYRIGHT)

ZEN: meaning as follows: One way to think of zen is this: a total state of focus that incorporates a total togetherness of body and mind. Zen is a way of being. It also is a state of mind. Zen involves dropping illusion and seeing things without distortion created by your own thoughts.

Being in the moment with total commitment!

SWIM: Meaning 1. To move through water by means of the limbs, fins, or tail.
2. To move as though gliding through water.
3. To float on water or another liquid.

As Bruce Lee once said:

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.
