Truth be told... I think Al Sharpton is the ONLY person who was truly offended. He's been perming his hair for years so when he hears someone say nappy he goes apeshit.

don imus' firing was a reaction to al sharpton's overreaction and race hustling. why do people still even listen to al sharpton? when will al sharpton lose credibility in the black community just as he has lost credibility with the rest of america?

Oops, i mean "villain" and 2pac". A decent book to read is "Freakonomics". Part of it deals with how people behave when certain INCENTIVES are put in place. Ex. Poor inner city kid who has self esteem and identity issues sells drug in hopes of money, power, and respect. This in my opinion is a socially engineered trap.

"In earlier comments you were stating that whites don't see alot of blacks..."
No i didnt,Boobalopbop did. Point blank, no one over the age 25 really has a good reason to be prejudice and still be considered intelligent. People act like there are only negative images of blacks in entertainment; its just that it seems like blacks become more POPULAR playing those roles.

This didn't make sense to me. In earlier comments you were stating that whites don't see alot of blacks. So what they see on TV is the closet thing the would get an idea of Blacks. It sounded like you were justifying their ignorance. Now you're saying," They're collectively smart enuff 2 differentiate reality from tv."

So, I was appauled that he has to edit himself and sugar coat his words to avoid saying nigger. That reads as racism to me... I'm sorry. Don Imus on the other hand, was being humorous, and what he said was all current light hearted slang... he didnt call anyone a nigger, he wasn't implying anything about those girls' character....Which is why when blatant racist comments are made its grouped with Imus, and THAT is dangerous.

Just so you know, I think banning and burying the word (as al sharpton and his moronic cronies have been championing) is ridiculous... But I was shocked by that recording. Call me ignorant but I was shocked when Michael Richards did it and I was shocked by this. I couldn't believe that that word in that context was that close to the tip of their tongues. Like if Dog is talking about a black person he says "this nigger at the grocery store", thats how worried he was that it would slip out.

They could have done a spin-off from surreal life on Ron Jeremy just as easily.... women competing to be with the most famous male porn star in the world, but they didnt. Keep the ig'nit ass nigga on TV as long as possible seemed like a better idea to them. ESPECIALLY because he was a part of a rap group like Public Enemy. Great big slap in the face for all PE stood for.

I'm not justifying bigoted behavior, I'm saying, here in our own nation, MOST whites don't encounter blacks, so if all they see of blacks is this one dumb, drunk, drug addict, immoral, violent image, they have reason to believe that is what all black people are like. These images of blacks on these channels make me sick. Black people in the arts have been fighting against these images. Denzel, Angela Basset, Oprah, Cosby, Spike, etc, just to have their work knocked out by Flavor of Love?

Plus whites only make up around 15% of the WORLD population, so do we have the right to be equally ignorant because of their past and present images? Most people in Africa never see them, yet they are very respectful towards them because they know they're humans like the rest.
Popularity and uniformity are 2 different things. Ex. Denzel Washington. He plays all types of roles, but is it his fault he gets an emmy for playing a villian? @pac is another example. 2pacalypse Now barely went gold, while All Eyez On Me went 9x platinum. This society rewards badasses, so of course people who are trying to come up will play these roles.

Imus collapsed like a cheap Chinese-made stick table. What a load of bull this guy throws. He talks real tough -- but he runs like a scared little girl as soon as things get a little tough. The rest of you can listen to Imus, but you know -- like I do --that the Imus is gone for good. In fact, he was never even there to begin with. He did make me laugh. But ghat was before he showed himself to be a female cat.

I disagree. The show this morning was great and I expect to only get better. That's my opinion though. We'll have to wait and see.
