  • nascar as an association was/is dead when Winston left and Busch failed to pickup the pieces. really, if you think about it, all that makes a sport is the players/drivers/storytellers. Ned Jarrett and Benny Parsons told the stories and great PEOPLE like Mark Martin, Darrell Waltrip, Bill Elliott, Harry Gantt, the Allisons, the Pettys and hard racers like Cale & Dale made racing awesome and fun to watch. those times can't be repeated, only cherished.

  • @baq104 Well said

  • This video is retarded. Nascar isn't dead, it will not die anytime soon, and you are damn lucky Nascar doesn't see this and sue your ass.

  • nascar has been struggling because of a rough economy. Companies can't afford to sponsor cars, competitive teams shut down, and parity is lost. That is why it's going down. I wouldn't put it on France.

  • you guys who hate this video dont understand who bill france was or how well he directed nascar.. now nascar is just a free-for-all sport that is taken over by the worst of reporter

  • also ratings and attendance have both been up about 25% this season over last seaosn... so it's slowly getting better in the fans' eyes as well.

  • NASCAR is still great I think. 2011 has been the best season since about '03 in terms of excitement. My two issues with NASCAR is the restrictions on setups, and the lack of brand identity in the cars - however the manufacturers are allowed to design a lot more aspects of the cars starting in 2013 so that's getting fixed thankfully.

  • seems like it gets worse every year the COT and the chase has really ruined nascar also plus it seems like most tracks you cant even pass at for some reason

  • I liked NASCAR better before they had the COT, changing the bodystyles up and making everything ridiculous...My hiope is they'll fix all this, no NASCAR is not like it used to be. I liked it until about 2007 when they introduced the COT which just sucks. In the early 2000s there was a good influx of young and old drivers and there were a lot of fulltime teams and then that made it hard to keep up. Money has a lot to do with it, NASCAR just got into making money mode and it sucks.

  • to me nascar died after terry labonte won his last title. that year was the last one i remember when the rear bumpers were ROUND and the bodies looked exactly like the street version with extensions around the front and side. after the year i mention wuscar bent over for JACK 'THE CRYBABY' ROUSH who ranted 'we can't keep up with the monte carlo, help me nascar help me'.

  • @dolphinmagic24fan this made me lol, since when does NASCAR care about what fans think of the sport these days? haha. As long as they're attracting fair-weathered/curious stick-and-ball fans then they'll continue to operate the way they do and you will continue to see the sport lose its core fanbase like it has been annually. NASCAR used to not need any build-up for its product, you went to the races and you were 9 times out of 10 entertained, now its an EFFORT to put on a good race.
