what language was this movie originally made in? It's been re-dubbed into english but if you watch the actors' mouths and read their lips it looks like they're already speaking english. I've seen several other movies that are the same way

Claude Rains plays the role of an irritating blowhard with a chronically inflamed prostate....sort of sets the tone for the whole movie

Classic. Although in the category of campy old sci-fi films, it was well written and has way more story to it than most of these new big "block buster" films that are out today. So many new films they spend millions of bucks to make mindless drivel. Look at all the great classics that still hold up over the years: "The Day The Earth Stood Still" "Forbidden Planet" "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" "The War Of The Worlds" to name a few. In my opinion, "District 9" is the best of the newer ones.

Claude Rains over the top performance makes this a great film. I bought a VHS tape of this film decades ago and still have it. I hope others discover it now that it here.
