Swatch & Art - Profile 2010 - Ivan Navarro

Ivan Navarro is the latest artist who had the honour to create a watch for the Swatch & Art series.
Ivan moved from Santiago, Chile to New York in 1997 because he was interested in the New Yorker art scene. It took him at least 7 years to start working as an artist. His start in New York was very hard and complicated because he didnt have a visa at that time. Little by little he started making some money by showing some of his work. Paul Kasmin, owner of the renowned Paul Kamsin Gallery New York, says about Ivan: Ivans art work stands out immediately, because it has its own language, completely clear and indentifiable. He has a clear political message and clear artistic messages, its unmistakenly Ivan.
For Ivan the image of death is very present with the idea of time, thats why a skull is the clock-face, the bones are the minute and second hand perpetually moving like time.

I do not see any art in this guy. I am so tired of people forced to be artistically intellectual. Tha watch idea really, I mean really, suck!!!.

I can beleive that people is getting paid to do stuffs that a 8 years old would do better.
