In response to Governor Henrys call for legislative input on the use of the $2.6 billion of federal stimulus dollars, State Senator Randy Brogdon has prepared a detailed plan of how he would like to see the money allocated.

Give it all back to Obama and the Congress, said Brogdon. There are too many strings attached to this plan and we cant afford to rob our childrens future in order to take care of our needs today.

Brogdon continued, I applaud the Governors request that the State Legislature be included in this process. However, I wish he would have consulted us before he took the money in the first place.

When asked specifically why Brogdon opposes the use of the federal stimulus funds, he points to his efforts on SJR10, legislation that reaffirms the 10th Amendment of the Constitution and requires the federal government to cease imposing new mandates and regulations that are outside their authority.

There is no such thing as a free lunch, especially when it involves money coming from Congress, said Brogdon. By accepting this money, Governor Henry has added millions of dollars of increased mandates that Oklahoma taxpayers must now pay.

This $2.6 billion in federal stimulus dollars amount to Governor Henry taking out a payday loan to cover the states debt, said Brogdon. Only its the taxpayers who are on the hook for the next 20+ years of interest payments.

Brogdon continued, Im not against the federal government helping us out. But until that money comes stamped with No Strings Attached, we cannot afford any more federal mandates.

Randy Brogdon is the State Senator for District 34 which covers Northeastern Tulsa County and portions of Rogers County. He and his wife of 37 years, Donna, currently reside in Owasso, OK. For more information about Randy Brogdon, please visit www.RandyBrogdon.com
