Przyczyną, dla której rzeki i morza otrzymują hołd tysięcy strumieni górskich, jest fakt, że trzymają się niżej od nich. I dzięki temu mogą rządzić wszystkimi górskimi strumieniami. Podobnie mędrzec, który chce być ponad ludźmi, ustawia się niżej od nich, a chcąc być przed nimi, ustawia się z tyłu. I tak oto, choć miejsce jego nad ludźmi, oni nie czują jego ciężaru, a choć miejsce jego przed nimi, nie odbierają tego jako rany.
