Petersfield - the crowds are out in force for the Easter Fair -and then turn their attention to the mid-morning arrival of Oliver Cromwell - camera arms raised in greeting and spontaneous applause! On to Botley, where I thought there'd be a water stop, but 70013 rushes past at 60 mph - some awful platform manners here - check out the little man in yellow and the big one in black! So to see the engine (with 20 others, rather than 200 or 2000) it's over to Eastleigh for the evening return.
The Britannias were always my favourite engines and we used to get a good quota through Wolverton -they were often given charge of the Rugby cement vacuum-fitted freight and on one occasion the driver of 70033 Charles Dickens was held in the station on the up slow before being crossed to the fast. We were allowed on to shovel coal into the firebox and learn about the various controls. When the signal changed and we climbed reluctanctly down, the driver just couldn't get the train moving. There was such a prolonged series of wheel slips that the place was totally enveloped in exhaust. It was truly volcanic and the station master came out to see what the fuss was about.
British eccentricity in spades !!

I was returning from an Easter trip to the Isle of Wight when we passed her going west just past Havant. Unfortunately there is not much detail to be seen from the window of a Class 377 going in the opposite direction so it's nice to see the tour in your posting. Nice Video Will. P.S. I have posted a vid of the Tube Trains on my weekend trip to the Isle of Wight

Typical kid, "Get me one mum!" But hey I think he should have a steam engine, far better than a silly video game. Go on mum, get it for his christmas. He'll be the next Fred Dibner!
