I remember that day I was only 12 at the time and when I heard about the mine explosion that day I then realized how lucky I was still to have my Dad as he was an underground miner for Westmoreland in Wentz #1 mines. Unfortunately black lung took his life June 2010.

my dad was a coal miner for five years as a roof bolter and one day in 1993 the roof fell on him befor he could secure it and broke his back and he has had 7 back surgerys since then and my papaw was a miner for a long time then went to a mine inspector for 30 years and he has black lung god bless all coal miners.

I am a surface coal miner and every time i hear this song i think about the coal miners both surface and underground mining coal both here and in heaven. GOD BLESS my fellow COAL MINERS and myself as well

My daddy wasn't a coalminer. But my Pawpa was and I am lucky to still have him. Actually both my pawpa's were coalminer's but one of them I didn't get to meet because he died when my Mommy was little. I am 12. I love this song. I LOVE it alot. For all those people who don't like Coal mining.. Go somewheres else and live cause I have grew up with depending on it. <3 GOD BLESS ALL COALMINERS! <3 (btw,Im a girl. & My dad is a stripminer.)

My popaw had black lung ,my uncle had 2 heart attacks while working in them, my other uncle fell down a mining shaft and had a metal bar go thru his leg and my other uncle broke his back. All doin this job its not easy but it pays the bills.

I have had 2 granddaddys pass away with black lung, 1 uncle was found to have black lung after he passed, 1 great uncle die in a rock fall, 1 uncle need 3 back surgeries due to coal mining & numerous friends and other family members affected by coal mining.

I STILL LOVE OUR COAL MINERS & am engaged to a surface miner!

My grand dad died of black lung, I'm in the Army and i'm saying the Miners are not appreciated enough. Born and raised in eastern KY.
