Questions from a viewer:
Q: Just watched your nice video....wow brandon

A: LOL!

Q: The seed packet showing in video "was at least twice the size" of my seed packet I received .My seeds are same smallness. Makes one disappointed etc.

A: Ha ha! They say the camera adds 5 pounds, I guess seeds are not excluded! I assure you, our counting method is very accurate and consistent, the 500 seed packet is on the video was taken directly out of the lot of seeds that are sold to customers, and the packet you've received.

Q: When planting time comes what would be the advantage of spacing 3foot vs 2foot distance? Pls explain all.

A: I would space them as far apart as you reasonably can, the reason is just to give the plants enough room to stretch out is leaves, the bottom leaves will grow to about 24" in length, so in theory, if you have 2 plants 4' apart, the leaves will just clear each other, its ok to have them closer, its just that the leaves will touch each other.

Q: And pls explain to me the 5G bucket more&what to expect if do one for my house.

A: The root structure of the tobacco plant is similar to Tomato plants, where they will grow downwards rather than outwards, which goes back to the planting distance, if they are planted close together, its fine, the roots will be ok. If planting in a pot, the minimum is 5 gallons to give enough room for the root structure to grow down. You can use larger pots or plant into a well drained garden.

Q: Where does a person plant their catnip & its advantage?

A: In a very sunny spot, and hopefully where there is exposure to cats! Catnip will thrive with full sun, and if constantly pruned either by you or by cats, the bush will grow fuller, if allowed to grow without pruning, the branches will be longer and sparser. These suckers love water so make sure they have lots of it!

Q: I know its not good to plant any tomat. anywhere near tobacco but need to know if all onions, scallops, wh. squash, spinach are ok to plant with tobacco? & are all other veggies ok too" as long as plant them 2feet away"???

A: Planting veggies along side tobacco is fine. I haven't heard of the Tomato ever cross pollinating with tobacco though...they are related, but I don't believe they will create a hybrid plant... There may be a few transferable diseases, but if this is your first year with tobaccos, you are typically fine, and its just a hobby, so if you find you have a failed crop this year, you can hopefully single out the cause and try again next year!

  • Tobacco seeds need sunlight to germanate thou

  • @Curiousitykillzs need sunlight to grow after germination. Germination is just the seed activating with moisture, most seeds do this under a few inches of soil, with no sunlight.

  • Hi there! Most interesting video! I'm planning on growing some tobacco here in the UK. Have just bought some Virginia Tobacco seeds from Ebay. Just wanted to know what the best time to sow is in the Uk? Also, should I use a greenhouse since I'm in the Uk? How long do seeds stay fresh or useable? Also I heard 40 plants is enough for a years smoking, is that true? I would appreciate it if anyone could please answer this for me. Thanks! :)

  • @TheToddy30 Awesome!! You should sow your seeds about a month indoors before the last frost, if you have a really short growing season, I would sow 2 months prior so that you can plant outside as soon as the weather turns to warmth! You could get a greenhouse if you plan to do winter growing, but I don't think its necessary to grow outside of the summer months. Seeds should last for about 3 years in a cool dry place, however it will lose germination rate as time goes on.

  • @SurfMonkeyCoconut do you have to be 18 to grow because am 16 and i dont want to smoke it i just want to grow. its just a plant

  • @ylerspina Seeds are not a "smoke ready" product so all ages can grow them, however its not really a decorative plant and there may be more exciting ones to grow over a tobacco, like carnivorous plants! As seen in this series, tobacco gets very large so you will need either big pots or a lot of space, full sun and it grows best during the summer. Also if you do grow it, it is dangerous to pick a leaf off the plant and smoke it, because again its not smoke ready, and at that point

  • @SurfMonkeyCoconut you may run into underage possession legality issues!

  • i planted my seeds in seed compost, when will they need added fertilizer?

  • Guys, I am from Maldives a remote area in the indian ocean...here the climate is very different, but average is sunny. Will I be able to gro these plants here?

  • @TheToddy30 plant in Feb indoors in a south facing window place outdoors when last frost has been...they will grow outside or in a green house and can go 7ft high. 40 plants is plenty for your own consumption.seeds will stay usable as long as they are kept in dry dark place like your wardrobe in your bedroom. greenhouse will give more vigorous growth and probably longer growing time due to temperature drop towards oct. your green house will have to be massive for 40 plants!
