The drawbar is removed for transport, after which the carriage is winched into the back of the transporter, with the horses, Ben and Tyson, loaded last.
Going up a 1 in 20 slope, the horses must raise their weight and the weight of the carriage and people 1 foot for every 20 feet along the slope, since it is the sine that is used to define a gradient, or grade, as it is called in The USA. Watt derived the Horsepower unit from the weight of coal that horses could raise per unit time. See also the other videos of the horses, carriage and transporter in my videos here at YouTube.
Microsoft's Encarta has some information on Watt's experiments on the power of horses.
