How To Do The Basic Motorcycle Handling Skills Certificate

This is the first step on the way to obtaining your motorcycle licence in New Zealand.
You have to be able to do these basic manoevres with your bike before you can sit your written test.
Slow riding @ 5kms, cone weaving, stopping on a spot, indicating and turning, stopping in a curve.
Then go sit the New Zealand road code 35 questions, after passing that you can then go on the road to gain experience, before sitting the full practical road test.... easy

So what's the test about?

is it the same as the car learners license? do we have to do it if we've done the car one?

@GENERALSLASH1 Not the same as the car test, If you want to ride a bike bigger than 50cc then yes, you have to do this first step. Regards

need some advise.. am a petit person who lives on the hills in Melrose, not sure if i should get a 50cc moped or a 120 cc bike... got an opinion.

If you want to ride, and go to some fantastic places on your very own bike Then please Don't buy a scooter or a Moped...buy a proper motorcycle. 250cc. it Doesn't matter how big you are as long as your feet can touch the ground.) They ,r fun and the learning curve keeps you really active. Today 5/3/10 I am now go to sit my restricted Lic, this is so I can take off the big yellow "L" and be able to do 100kph on the open road Coool.
