Have to disagree with you on that. Some of their best and most original music came from the time with Duncan. I wish it would have gone on longer, and that they would have received the support and recognition they deserved.

Reading an old Trouser Press magazine story on the then new-Rollers (October 1979) this morning brought me here to investigate. Wow- cannot believe these guys were the former BCR (whom I was never interested in, btw). Here, they remind me of the old English Power Pop group, The Records. Good energy!

@jayanxiety Hard rock? Naw, definitely smart Power Pop RnR here. The Rollers had wisely caught up with times and put on their RnR clothes. Unfortunately, they were a little late in doing so. Had they done in a year earlier (1978), they would've stood a much better chance of success. Once the Knack went platinum in '79, the Power Pop movement's days were numbered, though, like punk, still lives on, influencing each new RnR generation. Gee, I'm beginning to sound la bit ike a lecturer ;-)

It's too bad they didn't have the guts to drop Tam as their manager earlier in their career. He created their image but didn't seem to ever want to let them "grow up." Had they dumped him and been able to produce rocking music like this...who knows? Eric would have been happier, Les may have stayed, they would have been better off being allowed to mature instead of being dressed up like choirboys and all the crap Tam thought up.

I, as a Bay City Rollers fan, should have given Duncan Faure a chance. He is an excellent musician. However, many of the fans and the DJs (including myself- I plead absolutely, positively, 100% guilty) didn't give the Rollers a snowball's chance in Texas in July after Leslie left.

Funny when I was 15 I actually rode in a elevator with Eric at a Hotel in L.A. scared me too death red faced the whole way..3 years later at 18 this song came out .. my friends always teased me that he wrote the song about that elevator ride!!!

The Rollers during their lesser-known "Hard Rock" era. I actually tried NOT to like this era, though it was impossible for me not to. Some don't see it as the same band as the Rollermania years, but it's still a part of their history. Wish more people gave it a chance. It's about time for a rediscovery!

Woody,Eric,Derek and Alan certainly found out who their real fans were then. They WERE still Rollers, and the band did still have their genuine fans go along on their journey with them tho. The die hards I guess you could say.

Wow! I was just doing some research for a Christmas present for my sister and I remembered she had a Rollers record with a red pill on the front. This is like the Buzzcocks in space.
