defence is the governments job, healthcare is not.

Than that makes them worthless.why protect one aspect of life to neglect another. Plus, preventive maintained healthcare will save money in the long run by having healthier people. If the government does not care about basic human rights, than they must be robots.They also should stop starting dumb, pointless wars. offense is not always the best defense...........

I believe that you have missed the point. No where have I claimed that health care has an unlimited supply. On the contrary it is rationed to those who REQUIRE it. That is what makes Stossel's argument so irrational. Get the facts about things like Universal Health Care before you start using the terms. Judging on your comments the lies being propogated by the left and right are working and the truth is still known tonly o those who experience it, ie: those who don't live in the US.

The problem is that government health care and health insurance in general doesn't work.

Our healthcare system in America is broken, I agree. However, both the republicans and democrats in office have no idea how to fix it. Both republicans and democrats thing the answer is more insurance. The answer is to make it cheap enough so you DON'T NEED insurance.

We can't just suspend the laws of economics in the same way we can't suspend the laws of physics.

This is not a touchy feely argument. I could care less what decision is made in the US. Your argument that prices would rise is hard to believe considering what americans already pay for health insurance/care. I can tell you for a fact that my allotted tax dollars combined with my private insurance costs are so far less than what the average american pays for basic health insurance it would be insulting to put actual numbers beside it.

We can't suspend economic principles to give out free health care to make it work. The government can't dole out free health care and expect prices not to rise. That money is, effectively, free and causes INFLATION.

Private health insurance has the same effect. When a company pays you with health benefits, that can be used for routine costs it causes INFLATION (rising prices).

THESE ARE ECONOMIC PRINCIPLES. Try to stop them.
