David Wilcox live from the Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul, MN on Thursday, November 9, 2006. He pulled this old song out and made his audience very, very happy.
We all can say what our "faves" are of David Wilcox's...but, I what I find most enduring about his talent is that he never waievers from his own genius song, and allows his audience to connect with him... what they will. THAT my friends, is a true artist! IMHO, this song...regardless of the quality of video is one of his most soulful songs. Just MY opinion, of course! Yet, the melody, the simple riffs...and, of course, the lyrics...ring true for me. Thank you, David...for "finding me here".
High Hill is excellent! Also love "Show Me", "The Time Between the Lightning and the Thunder", and others. David Wilcox's manager, Tom Simonson, promised David would have more of a YouTube presence, but I have yet to find an assortment of high quality songs on YouTube -- too bad since David's excellent music would help a new generation discover excellent songwriting, lyrics, and guitarwork.
David Wilcox has great new songs on his CD "Airstream" but his YouTube presence is spotty; he needs more terrific songs with great audio quality and intelligent video. I met him in Westfield last spring at his concert and he's very approachable, funny, humble. I like Covert War but I think "High Hill" (not sure if that's the right title) is excellent, along with "Prayer", and "The Time Between the Lightning and the Thunder" (again, not sure about titles).
David Wilcox is arguably America's best singer-songwriter but deserves videos with better sound quality and camerawork. His best songs: Eye of the Hurricane; Language of the Heart; Rusty Old American Dream; Chet Baker's Unsung Swan Song (covered by KD Lang by the way); many others.
I first found his music by accident, from a father I knew only as a stranger. Listening to a tape that he gave me, the songs of David embraced my heart and kept me warm like an old familiar blanket of love, hope.. and heartache. Definately one of the most talented musicians of our day. Thankfully, the singer who built a bridge between a boy and his dad. Thanks for sharing the song.
I sang this at my wedding to my bride to be in 1992. enduring and forever timely. a true underrated genius

All those songs are great, but I think Covert War is David's best.
