Rhinoplasty Specialist Dr. Paul S. Nassif, of "Dr. 90210" and Spalding Drive Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, discusses his philosophy regarding revision rhinoplasty surgery.

As a patient, you wonder why this is happening to me. You wonder why do I need a revision rhinoplasty 9 months following my initial nose surgery. You wonder why everything looked great and the next thing you notice is pinched nostrils and progressive nasal obstruction. Well, you are not alone. Whether its the result of aggressive surgery or scar contracture with the healing process, unfortunately this problem is not that rare. Nationally, approximately 5 12% of patients that undergo rhinoplasty need a revision of some kind, whether it is major or minor. Even in the hands of the best rhinoplasty surgeons across the country, the need for revision sometimes occurs. Without a doubt, revision rhinoplasty surgery is the most challenging procedure that we, Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons, perform.

  • Hello Doctor Nassif,

I had a septorhinoplasty six months ago to correct deviated septum and remove hump on the nose. The surgery was covered completely by insurance.

Now, I am unhappy with some parts of nose. First, there is still a bit of a residual bump, and from left angled view there seems to be a concave look to my nose, whereas from other side view it looks straight (must be a bump on right side of bridge). Also, my right passage seems to clog often, affecting breathing..

  • So I am wondering, if I go to same surgeon (who is an excellent surgeon), can these problems be corrected in a revision? Is there a particular reason why my right nasal passage seems to clog often? My surgeon did say a lot more work was done on the right side...

    Hello,

I would really need to obtain more information regarding any issues you are experiencing to provide you with advice. It would be best for you to speak with your surgeon regarding breathing issues, as he/she knows the extent of your surgery and exactly what was performed. Thank you very much for the question.

Hello, please send me any photos and I would be happy to evaluate them for you. Thank you very much for the question and best of luck to you.

  • Your videos and before and after photos seem really good. I'm definitely considering you for my rhinoplasty! Do you get a lot of Middle Eastern patients? That's where my family is from so I was just wondering because I've got a hump on my nose. Thanks.

  • @cleonephthis1

Thank you! I am an ethnic rhinoplasty specialist, and have a great deal of experience performing surgery on Middle Eastern patients. Thank you very much for the question, and please feel free to send me any photos.

  • When evaluating several surgeons for my revision rhinoplasty.I asked each surgeon how long does a revision rhinoplasty take. Most told me around 2 to 3 hours. One surgeon told me around 5 or 6 hours.I chose the surgeon who took the longest amount of time.

  • @sabrowne24 Hello, In Boston I would recommend Dr. Raffi Der Sarkissian, he is excellent. Thank you and I hope this helps!

  • Hi Dr. Nassif, we have been big fans of yours since Dr. 90210. Hope the series comes back. Your wife and you are such an inspiration to us of the hard workers you both are. We will be at your new Blizzard place in Cerritos today, since we also live about 5 minutes from there. Take care, Johnny

  • I've never had rhinoplasty but would really like it to correct a bulbous nose. Is this less time-consuming? My problem - I live in Maine. I don't believe that a lot of surgeries are done here. I visited a popular plastic surgery office in Portland over a year ago for a consult and was told that 'this is Maine' people don't have cosmetic nose surgeries in Maine. So, it worries me that surgeons in Maine are not experienced enough. Do you have someone you'd recommend in New England? Thx.
