Coolfin stretched boundaries and opened Itrad to a wider audience. After hearing them I went on to explore the more traditional music and fell in love with it but without groups like Coolfin I don't think I would have ever given traditional music the first listen

Agree this is fantastic. The melodies and the syncopation are unbelievable. Anyone not moved by this is made of stone.

@ralphdevipont because the very nature of celtic music is nomadic. Everying in Irish music from about 1800 onwards has been adapted and taken from continental styles

Ray Fean is an awesome drummer, and he kinda looks like a left handed Mike Portnoy in this video

I really wish the group could get back together - I sorely miss their music. I love the jazz flavor seasoning my favorite Celtic music. Coolfin remains one of my all time favorite bands

wow this was great! and I recognized a couple of those musicians from other Celtic DVDs I own...

Is it a real celtic music or it's a fusion???

The first tune is a newly composed slide by Lunny, the second a traditional slide. It's as real as any Celtic music around unless, obviously, you think that Celtic music should not make use of modern sounds such as bass, drums and keyboards?

Thank you for the Info. I think that the best music is played on Traditional accoustic instruments. This music may be a celtic style but as it's faith in the modern times it becomes modern, and I don't like this modernisation of the music!

I agree that it's modern Celtic. But Celtic music is not just a thing of the past. It' a living thing and i think it thrives in a whole variety of settings. Sure the bazouki and gutar only came into use in Celtic music quite recently!
