Episode: Cryptic Passage
Level: Castle
Secrets: Five
Difficulty: Well Done

Fasten your seatbelts, folks! This is the last Blood video and by cracky, it's a long 'un! Over twenty minutes in length no less! Make a brew or do whatever you feel is necessary so that you're sitting comfortably.

What an excellent final level to go out on! Forget the sheer length and forget the vast number of enemies. Instead, just marvel at the sublime level design throughout. It really does feel like you're plundering a castle. Geddit?! If there's one tiny little quibble I have with this level, it's that on this difficulty you have to face off against FOUR Stone Gargoyles all at the same time. I suppose it just wouldn't be a final level without the challenge of going toe-to-toe with those lumbering beasts one last time. In a way, they're actually harder than the final boss itself! They certainly put up a good fight though; my ammo reserves were running on empty by the time I was finished!

Speaking of the final boss, it's nothing but a pair of Cerberi! Oh dear...
Collectively, they're both known as The Lord of All Nightmares who's duty is to guard the ancient scroll that Caleb is here to claim. These two can be a right nightmare (fancy that!) if you don't pick up the Guns Akimbo and Invulnerability scattered around the arena where you fight. Unfortunately, if you do plump for those power-ups, it makes this final boss fight SO much easier. I guess I wasn't in the mood where I could push my skills to the limit. With that said, that Invulnerability will do nicely thank you very much!

And so, after they fall, there's nothing left to do but to collect the Keys they both drop, open the exit doors and hit that Tchernobog symbol for the very last time. But I don't want to! Oh alright...

And that's it! But, Caleb's journey through the night will continue...

Secret One: 1:49 - 2:05 & 2:10 - 2:38.

Secret Two: 2:42 - 3:15.

Thus ends my Blood: Cryptic Passage playthrough.

So everything in the Blood universe has all been wrapped up with a neat little bow! That is until the sequel comes along...

Until that time, I hope you've enjoyed watching my videos as much I have playing through and recording them.

Thanks for watching!

P.S. I know the ending is missing but fear not! That will arrive soon.

  • I dunno why, but I try to load up Cryptic Passage on my computer, but it just shuts off before it even shows me a glimpse of the game! Help!

    (Also, 19:19, CD-i Ganon?)

  • @Astroman9991 I know Cryptic Passage is a buggy expansion but I've never had that problem. Have you tried looking on the forums at GOG to see if anyone else had the same issue?

  • Is 13:07 a Total Recall reference?

  • @terminegger Yay! Someone spotted it! I can always rely on you to spot those intricate little references I add in.

  • Also, at 00:04 is a Star Wars reference.

  • This is my favorite blood episode. It may not have any new enemies or weapons, but it has the best designed levels.

  • duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude please just for me, go back onto blood at some point and set fire to a stone gargoyle and burn it to death please.

  • @galleyuk Strife is a really fun game. the story is kinda generic scifi rebels vs oppression story but its a fun game. i first played it when i found it on a flea-market ´97 and for a price of 20mk (3,5€ aprox) the game was tenfold worth the price.

  • @galleyuk McDowell? The 60s? Count me in.

  • @Votapardo Hah, I guess I should've been more specific! I meant the one starring Malcolm McDowell that satirises public school life in the 60's. I think it's just called 'If...'; good film though.

  • @galleyuk There about 12 films called If, so it depends :D
