  • Kick-ass advice, David! I've had to filter the advice I've gotten from my Toastmasters public speaking mentors whose style is different from mine. I always listen to their words-of-wisdom, but I then have to filter whether their advice actually applies to my personality.

I'm a loud, arm-waving Malaprop and sometimes the advice (from people I respect) is to tone it down. Thanks for sharin your story of having toned-it-down only to bounce back up to being yourself. I likes yer style, homie!

  • @reidwalley Lol Malaprop. Keep it up toned up!

  • David your style and personality got me hooked on The Rise, please do not change. This video really speaks to me in that I work with people who have a style the opposite of mine. But I am not going to change. Thanks again for a great vid.

  • @Jeepguy255 Awesome, and don't worry I only know how to me :)

  • Great video David. This is what makes everyone individuals. If I wanted to see a boring Rise To The Top, there is CNBC or whatever channel. This is the beauty of the mouse, if someone doesn't like you & what you are doing, they always have the choice to click off.

  • @phenomenalagent Totally agree. And I think it is a doubt many of us face when you hear something like that and staying strong to who you are is the key as opposed to trying to change for a few select randoms. Great point and thanks for watching.

  • @lindsayc888 Lindsay - Absolutely, never fear it. Some will resonate with it and become super fans/supporters, etc. Others might not and that is totally fine. Keep rocking!

  • Great Advice David. As some one just getting started, I used to fear even having my mug out there and figuring out who it is that I want to portray in my personality. It came down to embracing who I am and where I've come from, embracing my story, and letting that evolve over time. Awesome stuff and keep up the great work.
