有一个人嗜酒如命，妻子就以不说"酒"字劝其戒酒。酒迷犯瘾，到大街上找酒友出主意。张九和李九先后来到酒迷家中，邀他去喝酒。不多时，酒迷手托斑鸠回家，问妻刚才是否来­人。妻子灵机一动，答道：先来一个张三六，抱了一个二七篓 ；又来了一个李四五，拿着三乘三的菜，都说是你老朋友 ，请你重阳节到他们家，去喝两二加一个五。酒迷听后，舌头发软，自叹这辈子别想再喝酒了!

Its about a man who often drinks alcohol, his wife does not like that. The man says he always wants to drink when his wife says "jiu" (Chinese: alcohol). (The syllable "jiu" can be used in lots of contexts, for example it also means "nine") The man and his wife agree: If the wife does not say "jiu", the man will not drink. But because he really would like to drink alcohol he tries to bring her to say "jiu", but his plans dont work. There are lots of wordplays which are not easy to translate.
