Watch him drum live with the Beatles on the roof in 1969, so so tight and flawless. Holding the rock steady all day long as George said.

Music has changed so much in 46 years. In my day the wildest drum solo was In-A-Gada-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. It wasn't about Metal and shredding and crazy guitar solos. It was more about the words and meaning of the song. Sure we had great musicians but they just didn't center on instrumentals. Take Tommy James who had great music but the lead guitar was very simple licks but it was still great music.

Well I say he does not suck. Almost every drummer knows him and no one knows you. so, you must suck;-)

George Harrison: Ringo has the best backbeat I’ve ever heard.
Paul McCartney: Ringo, Moonie, and John Bonham would be my three main drummers…for feel and emotion and economy, they’re always there. Particularly, Ringo. (and a postcard to Ringo) You are the greatest drummer in the world. Really.
John Lennon: Ringo is a damn good drummer…Paul and Ringo stand up with any of the rock musicians. …as pure musicians, as inspired humans to make the noise, they are as good as anybody.

He may not be a fancy drummer who constantly shows off his technical prowess like Keith Moon or Neil Peart, but keeping beat and making other musicians sound good is a technical prowess in itself.
