Using an ancient Indonesian technique of applying wax and dye to handmade Japanese paper and adding inks and watercolors, Bernadette DiPietro artfully synthesizes the old and the modern in her batiks. These unique works feature primitive forms, patters and symbols typically found in folk art. In addition to her batiks, DiPietro's collection of contemporary photography provides a delightful contrast with her more traditional pieces. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries since 1979, and exists in many private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe. You can see all of her work on www.ojai-style.com
