The Toyota Prius hybrid electric car is the top selling green car in the U.S.. But is this hybrid really green, or just a guilt free yippie mobile?

Embarking on a hybrid car adventure, WebRidesTV host Jeremy Lusk reviews the Toyota Prius during a 320-mile West Coast road trip from the smoggy British Petroleum Oil Refineries in Carson, California to the majestic mountain cliffs of Big Sur.

  • Yeah yeah I still love my suburban. I don't give a crap paying 100 bucks per full up. However we need to invade another country for more oil hahahaha lol!!!!

  • in USA you can say that, USA has cheaper fuel, and who wants to be "green" can go bike safely...Have you ever been on Brazil? we really need a green car, and don't have it, our fuel is a joke.

  • @75cammo exactly, any up-to-date European car is likely to hit the same mpg as Prius or better with actual "car" in the car. Thats what many Americans doesnt know because they are not told and sry but they mostly think only "USA" is the world. There are exceptions but the basic is true sadly, its like China only Americans dont care about the rest of the world and china prohibits it. Whats worse of those two ?

  • @MeganoOdles you had to mine that somwhere in the first place ... its basicly mined from poor countries that dont mind the environment so that America can say "it doesnt destroy our air at all" well yes because its actually imported parts from all over the world where the demage is done ...

  • @HowkeyLL well said. buy a BMW 318d. better built, only couple of hundred quid more, much better mpg with `efficient dynamics`, better performance, better ride, and more entertaining. in fact, i could be discribing any decent modern tdi saloon

  • i prefer my BMW 4.6 V8, doing about 15mpg, and my GT500 mustang for weekends thanks. if you cant afford to run a decent car, dont. if your a green-eyed eco dick, buy a bike

  • I have a question!

If batteries can be recycled does that mean if you have enough Prius, will it mean nickel mining will be reduced?

  • ugh. I was JUST looking in to researching more about the Prius. I did look into it about a year or so ago, but as always- the battery is expensive. I hear horror stories about how people pay too much for maintenance on them. Nevermind a Prius... I'm going for a car that won't come with bad surprises in the long run!

  • To bad recent studies show hybrids don't help at all. In the best scenario it would take 5 years to break even on pricing with gas savings @ 15k miles per year. The actual production and shipping of the batteries nil your earth fuel savings before you even get the car. Hybrids can be very expensive to repair, and the batteries only last 8-10 years so your car depreciates in value by around 3000 bucks on year 7 since the battery will decrease in performance. Keep your old car you save 20k.

  • @JrgrimWoW For example:

    Prius - 68 mpg

Skoda superb Greenline - 56mpg (limousine)

Skoda Octavia Greenline - 65 mpg (family car)

    Skoda Fabia Greenline - 82 mpg !!!!
