@reedchappell .. yes.. this is because our government ( Indonesia ) doesn't care to much to this heritage .. the are not promoting this Silat . And also many martial arts get benefit from media ( movie ) . and Hollywood also Chinese & Japaneses movies shows their martial arts much .. but Indonesian movies is full of Bollywood producers and not many Silat movies theme now .. only gost & hedonist theme ..

Klo menurut gw sih silat tuh bukan sport kayak UFC..

@C64103045 masalahnya prinsip kebanyakan perguruan pencak silat, semakin berisi semakin merunduk (ilmu padi), master2 mana mau ikut kejuaraan2 buat hiburan gitu.... kecuali buat seni en olahraga tentunya

Silat exist since thousand years ago in thousand islands of Indonesia. This is native self-defense being the martial-art. Silat was created in that Equator Islands for sure,

silat is low profile but strong!
It amazes me that Silat hasn't gotten more exposure. Silat is amazing, incredibly unconventional, and it has a hard to describe exotic and mystical side to it that is extremely rare to find anywhere else. Chinese Martial Arts, which have received a great deal of exposure, I think could be comparable in terms of unorthodox training. Filipino Martial Arts, likewise, are another underappreciated system of arts, very creative and very effective, like Silat, but honestly nothing compares to Silat.
