Many nuclear power plants could not remain operational in the event of a long term grid failure, resulting in multiple meltdowns. In the event of a severe solar storm many facilities in many countries could be put in jeopardy. When a plant loses power it has to rely on backup (30 days) required for American plants. The problem with a massive grid failure is not just power, but food, civil issues due to food shortages, fuel distribution, refrigeration issues, etc. Plant workers need to eat as well and a several month grid failure would create absolute pandemonium. Workers would abandon posts in order to help family, fuel would get used up fast. Pumps rely on the grid at gas stations and nuclear power plants. Many nuclear plants in the USA are 30+ years old and have limited power/cooling redundancy. And, no power plants are designed to withstand an 8.3+ earthquakes, besides the power grid issue. Hundreds of Japan Fukashima level events could result within a month to two month period following long term grid failure.
Get this conversation going so Congress will take action. Japan has some of the safest standards other countries have far from safe systems. Research for yourself and get people informed. Action must be taken now to prevent this from happening.... They know it is possible. see link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aftermath:_Population_Zero (day 10)

It is important that people understand how fragile nuclear power plants are. They can be crippled by a number of events, but power failure is a very important and often over looked. The back-up power will only last for a couple weeks at the most. The Japanese plants failed from power loss.. That is why they are running in power now to get the pumps and water moving again. A complete grid failure for months to years would cause massive meltdowns.
The solar storm that NASA is warning about in 2012 could cause 100s if not 1000s of nuclear plant meltdowns. As a huge loss of power would force plants to use backup power, These plants only have weeks worth AT THE MOST. A large solar storm will cause worldwide blackouts for months maybe years. Counties like India and China have grids that are primitive and both have many nuclear power plants. Ours (USA) is not much better. We are talking about 100s of Japan level events across the globe at the same time. Nuclear plants can shut down but very slowly . The spent wastes can not. It is in water, when water is lost due to power failure meltdown will happen as sure as a rock falls to the ground when you drop it

  • @lordblazer lol it was scary... I'm still in Japan so you're kinda lucky to be away.. I live not far from a nuc plant also which is scary >,<"

  • We need a solar storm like this as quickly as possible, hopefully the god of the sun will grant it to us.

  • seeing that I was living in Japan during these events. I know how the seriousness was being played down quite badly. I was displaced, and I feel blessed because now well I am in Istanbul doing a kickass internship.

  • @Rob187ok

you fail miserably. denial doesn't change reality.

  • @chilldaddy81, Nothing I said fails in any way at all. Just because you can't see what's all around you doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Go back just a few hundred years and tell people that they're living on a speck of dust that's floating through billions of stars in one of the billions of galaxies,, and then watch them laugh at your absurdity. I'm a free spirit and a slave to no men or their money. A test of faith is fine by me and death has already been overcome. Seek truth and love it.

  • @Rob187 your argument fails on so many levels. 1. satan/god concept is absurd, 2. the notion of supernatural is absurd, 3. filling gaps in understanding with supernatural explanation is absurd, and 4. your assumption that the bible's has any relevance when discussing what's happening in reality is absurd. You are a mind slave. Mind slaves are used by money slaves to create pandemonium. please slap yourself and wake up. if life is a test and you're living to die, you've failed by virtue.

  • @chilldaddy81 ,,, If Satan doesn't exist then there's something else that's supernatural, evil, clever, powerful and influential that acts just like the being that's called Satan in the Bible.

  • @chilldaddy81 yes he does his name is Dick Cheney

  • @Rob187ok no, your hypothesis was that satan was causing this. i say that is exactly what you are suppose to think being a believer. here's the problem, SATAN DOESN'T EXIST!

  • @chilldaddy81, I'm sure there are people who're trying to make things fit for whatever reason, but I'm also sure that time will tell and the truth will become known in the end. I know what you mean regarding self-fulfilling but I believe that there are things coming our way that no man will have the power to bring about, utilise or fake. I don't think we've seen anything yet, and I expect that those who're manipulating things for their own ends are going to be in for one almighty shock.
