These people don't claim to be Muslims. There is much more to these folks than what appears as stealing a little bit of everyone elses culture. The essence of these dances is based upon the belief that music and movement can bring you to connection w/ God. The dances are an evolution of the heritage of Indian Musician Hazrat Inayat Khan and Dancer Ruth St Denis
This is not simply imitating a little piece of any religion, they are exploring through music and dance that unique attribute.
