Part of exploring the four major groups of historical Angkor building sites. The sites were covered by rain forest until their rediscovery in 19th century. The magnificent temples and gates were built while the Angkor kingdoms were at its peak periods. Many structures were built for religious purposes. Majority of the structures were built with stones. They piled the stones first before carving. Some structures were built with bricks. The intricate designs, scale of buildings, and artistic curving skills were incredible. Among the Angkor sites, the immense structure of Angkor Wat is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The site occupied 24 KM by 8 KM of land. Some of the aged Angkor sites structures are crumbling while others are deteriorated. Several countries are involved in the restoration of the buildings.
