    Consumption of pig lard (OR = 6.32) and fatty red meat (OR = 3.48) were found to be associated with increased risk of breast cancer. Nutr Hosp. 2007 Sep-Oct;22(5):565-72.

    Significantly increased diabetes risk appeared to be most pronounced for frequent consumption of total processed meat and two major subtypes, which were bacon and hot dogs. Diabetes Care. 2004 Sep;27(9):2108-15.

    This same study author (Dr. Jeff Volek from UConn) also found dietary sat fat LOWER blood lipids:

  • Technically, no, but if a bite or two keeps you eating a healthy low-carb lifestyle the rest of the week, then GO FOR IT!
