  • Riiiiight. He makes being a personal injury lawyer sound like being an avenging angel of God. Like they alone are taking a noble stand against the ruthless, rotten corporations in a holy quest for truth. Well, the TRUTH is that he, and 99% of the P.I. attys. in the U.S. could give a DAMN about the suffering victims of corp. villainy-until they learn the depth of the defendants' pockets. Big enuf pockets and MAYBE they'll work the case; small ones are most often ignored til you give up/despair.

  • @JosephKrammer

Yeah, but he made a career off that one mishandled case.

  • Unless you personally know every detainee at Gitmo you haven't the faintest clue as to whether or not they are enemies of the United States. Your generalization highlights you ignorance and the enemies of every republic are the same:

    1. The Illusion of knowledge.

    2. Ignorance.

    Congratulations on not coming first.

  • Upon the end of my husbands enlistment at a military post we purchased a home in NJ(my husbands home state) with a water contamination problem. The problem was remedied temporarily in order to complete the sale of the home. After years we discevered the problem. Lawyers told us flat out " it will be cheaper to pay for a point of entry water streatment system then fight for justice". I give them credit for fighting for justice, and enviroment responsiblilty!

  • i though jan got attacked by a shark at the end of the book

  • I loved the movie " A Civil Action " based on Jan Schlichtmann's law suit against W. R. Grace and Beatrice Co. (Anderson v. Cryovac) that alleged that chemicals from these companies had contaminated drinking water in a town north of Boston, Woburn, Massachusetts. Extensive tests by Schlichtmann's experts and the EPA showed that defendants W. R. Grace and Beatrice Co. had polluted Woburn's water with dangerous levels of various carcinogenic chemicals.
