Great place for shopping, one of the only place in the whole city where middle-class women roam freely without their frowning, pot-bellied husbands. Many friendly people chat up foreigners on the overpass. Had great fun in this place!

  • I am sorry but I must say that contrary to your description of the video, very few women in Bangladesh actually wear veils, I mean percentage wise...and I've very rarely seen veiled women walking behind their husbands. Usually its a few veiled women walking together...

  • I don't mean to offend, but in Dhaka at least, that is what I noticed. Veils are very commonplace, especially in the old city, and few women venture outdoors. I lived there for a year and a half. Thanks for your comment.

  • Looks like new market needs modernizing

  • @KVNoBRIAN lol. do you see women on the road? u r lucky. i dont see anything else without men. good women who wear veils dont come out without major reason.

  • wheres the road?

  • Looks like a week before Christmas the

    Christmas shopping rush :P

  • Dhaka is really intense.

What gets me is how I often see people (homeless people?) sleeping at the side of unbelievably busy streets, with a colossal stream of traffic constantly roaring past only metres away from them. I always think 'how the hell can they do that? It's not humanly possible!'

  • Bangladesh is the best... Fuck pakistan..

  • Wow! Not one police car! I notice this because here in America when I was

a boy police didn't bother people. You hardly saw one. You lived a life more

free of tyrannical gov't abuse of citizens.

Now the streets are full of cops harassing citizens, blocking roads, giving

out fines for idiotic stuff like not wearing a seat belt! They do speed traps

on people trying to get to work.

I don't care if a city is so clean, or even if its "prosperous".

I want to live in freedom, not tyranny!

  • population growth shud be reduced gradually, imagine there are 5 young people (who works)and 2 old people(retired). in next generation there will be 5 old people, but 1 young people. how can 1 young people take care of 5 old people,(consider old people run out of their life time savings)so sudden change is bad. what bd is doing is perfect, they should concentrate on getting technology, make fast use of it, by making a business friendly environment. dat includes infrastructure, electricity, etc

  • if u still dont beleive me, think about japan. japan currently has one of the higest dependy ratio of older people on working people,do they lack technology per capit any less than a Canada?, no japan prob higher in tech than canada,. japan grew so fast at a time, but y is japans per capita less dan canada ??? Prb is they have spend resources on unnecessary things like pension medical food etcwhich cud have been used in gaining further tech. china will face dis

  • in my opinion, i see china better than india now, but india better in the future given current forecasts. 2 things Technology and Population is determining per capita at a general level. China has adopted tech faster than India, therefore they r leading the current race plus they have reduced population faster than india, another plus point for them. By reducing sudden population they have halter the longterm growth relative to india. More dependency on old means more tax, medical spending
