The army is 100% volunteer at this point. The selective service still exists, but has not been used to draft people since Vietnam. Actually, right now, all branches of the military are exceeding their recruiting goals, as many people are staying in due to the crappy economy. Therefore, the likelihood of the draft being used is virtually zero.

The problem I have with USA's last 3 wars is... none of them were really to defend themselves... more like, you know, conquering the little, weak and poor countries; but still, suspiciously rich in resources...

Maybe, instead of continuing this tireing discussion on wether war is right or wrong, people should just think about the people fighting in it. They don't know what they're getting into until they're there, and once they do and they can't get rid of the images, the damage is done. No life stays the same when they've seen what war has to show. Whether the person can live with that for the rest of their life, that's just a matter of luck.

As for human thought and understanding, that needs to come from both directions. you try reasoning with Ahmadinejad or Chavez or the North Korean nutjobs. @TheShadowKnows24 hi there, this video really bothers you...as you have commented on it before... prompting thought. i believe all this anger and hatred comes from fear. we have it in us and look for places to put it. the military is out of control and they aren't very good at 'winning wars' or 'bringing democracy' anywhere...and they cost way too much. lets try human thought, understanding and compromise to the situation...and then maybe...just maybe...

@gillymoon Sorry Gilly, that argument is VERY weak. Soldiers aren’t drafted anymore. They CHOOSE to serve now, making this whole video an exercise in idiocy to begin with. As for your Catholic school analogy, aren’t public school kids taught evolution and nothing else? They don’t get another point of view. Isn’t that as much what you would call “brainwashing” as anything in a Catholic school?

@gillymoon Sorry, Gilly, but living across the street from an Army base, I know MANY vets. About 90% or better say they believe in the cause they were fighting for. Most of them would look at a video like this and say these are sorry little sheep who have been duped by left wing rhetoric. When the enemy disbands their army; when the terrorists give up their attacks, when nobody is around to threaten us, then we can talk about crap like this. Until then, the military is as needed as the police.
