Kee Wah Bakery, a traditional family-operated company that produces distinctly Chinese pastries like bridal cakes and mooncakes, is facing a fight for its status as the "souvenirs of Hong Kong."
Kee Wah's snacks are often given to people overseas as tokens of Hong Kong's culture. Henry Tang, then Financial Secretary, bought some Kee Wah's cakes for New Zealand government officials during an overseas visit.
The challenge comes from Koi Kei Bakery, the creators of "souvenirs of Macau", who have set up their first store across the road from the Causeway Bay branch of Kee Wah.
LOL the director said: "we all have our bowl of RICE" XD
