Tens of thousands of abortion opponents rally in Washington to mark the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, amid concerns that their cause could face setbacks under the new president. (Jan. 22)
Well said, good sir! Not everyday someone on youtube expresses ideas intelligently on a highly controversial topic such as this! You're absolutely right in what you said! Besides the fact that the abortions are going to happen regardless of law - it's a shame to lay down laws concerning what one does with their bodies! That goes against the entire constitution's idea of freedom! Sounds more like a dictatorship! China is acceptable for measures such as these but not the US
My comment was not to suggest that the majority of abortions are done for concern of the mother's health. My point was that the illegal, back alley abortions done in Pre-RvW states were extremely dangerous to the mother. I acknowledge that abortions are going to happen both legally and illegally and as such I would prefer for abortions that do happen to be done as safely as possible. That said, I think we need to address the social problems that necessitate abortions in the first place.
slammy: An interesting comment if incorrect. Abortions in certain cases were legal before RvW. RvW legalized abortion on demand. Furthermore the assumption the the majority of abortions are for the health of the mother which they are not.
I agree that I would rather lose 1 than both however only when that loss is a factor.
You seem to completely disregard the fact that abortions were happening illegally in many states before Roe V. Wade. Furthermore, many of these abortions were excessively dangerous to the mother. I would rather abortions be available in a relatively safe environment with trained medical personnel performing the procedures. I would rather lose 1 life then both. What makes you think that criminalization would stop abortions from happening?

Atheists have sex more than religious people, But still atheists get fewer STDs, have less children, and have less abortions...
The only explanation to this that I can think of is that atheists dont get the "abstinence only" misinformation. They use safe sex correctly. Birth Control Pills and Condoms work 99999999/100000000 of the time if done correctly.
People who get pregnant are lying when they said they used protection correctly.
i wish these folks mothers had had the sense to get abortions.....then maybe they could have gotten enough education not to believe bronze age sky-gods are real.....and raised smarter kids later on in life.
It was actually it was hundreds of thousands.... Don't just sweep this issue under the table.

They are every human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity.
