In part 3 of this 4-part series, Duke discusses the recognition of a natural fit between Sunny Crownover's voice and songs from this era, despite her background in more contemporary blues and rock, and the approach to recording the vocals in similar fashion to the way Les Paul and Mary Ford approached things. Insight is also given into the inspiration for the title of the CD and how it relates to the way music from multiple cultures was appreciated by people whose social activities often revolved around listening parties, cocktails, and perhaps a smoking jacket being "recommended dress". Hugh Hefner, eat your heat out!

  • I would never have heard of these songs if it weren't for Duke recording them. Put the Blame on Mame is an incredible tune.
