Giant Cuttlefish Attack SCUBA diver

Giant Cuttlefish (Sepia apama) attack on female dive buddy. Cuttlefish breed and lay their eggs around this time of year - and become very aggressive and "frisky". They are very intellegent and are attracted to "shiny" things such as this torch, and especially anything that is yellow in colour. I motioned to her to switch the torch off, unfortunately she didn't understand and this footage is the result. This is the first time this diver had ever seen a cuttlefish. This cuttlefish followed us for another 20 minutes.

Kill the torch... or just kick it in the face.

It was chasing the diver's flashlight. That's also how Octopus and Squid fishing works, with big light sources by night.

@nosepilot44 The only known venomous cuttlefish is The Flamboyant Cuttlefish, otherwise they are very delicious :))
Big ones can attack divers (just like octopus & squid), they are only feared for their nasty bite from their parrot like beak.

They are scary, I am a diver and seen this before (on Inet). Those ones are always really aggressive and I don't want their beak to bite me.

@RockTheOcean4me I find they only appear aggressive around April - when breeding season is about - they die not long after, so I can see why they are cranky :)
