I agree- This IS the one! A classic- I wonder if Les & Mary have heard it?

I have this entire collection. Stan Freberg, Daws Butler and June Foray were all great on that show.

I agree with the critics of this sketch. Les Paul became a brilliant guitarist and guitar maker. Still, I guess no one has foresight. Freburg certainly didn't.

I love Youtube! Thanks to this site and hytam2, I'm listening to one of my favorite Stan Freberg tracks. Mum and Dad bought the EP in the late fifties and it was played to death! Other tracks were; 'John and Marsha,' (I believe banned at some time) 'Try' and 'I've got you under my skin.' You sing the song, I'll play the banjo! Priceless!

Yes they heard it. Stan sent them a copy before he published it. They laughed and sent him a congratulatory letter. BRB

I still have an album or two of Stan Freberg... he Hated jazz AND rock and roll this is just one of his attacks, and what an attack it is...lol hilarious...

Not sure that I'd characterize Les Paul & Mary Ford as "rock & roll"...This is definitely Stan Freberg. And a bit of Spike Jones influence too.

june forey and daws butler, but in this song he was sending up Les Paul, and Mary Ford... and did a good job of it too. He hated rock and roll.(at least the 50's style music)

I like this kind of silly stuff! Please more of it.

So he actually did use the Hanna Barbera studio voice talent, June Foray is a big one, for those records. Hmmmm..
People, people, after 50 years and with a bit to much wax in my ears, perhaps my recollection of the original was a tad off. Sorry Stan
