U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman discusses key elements of the health care reform bill passed out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee this week. The bill contains provisions for a public insurance option, as well as key elements that would help increase national insurance coverage rates, incentivize cost-saving preventative measures, and implement practical market reform practices. Bingaman also touches on some of the financial aspects of the bill.
The bill—or markup—passed out of the HELP Committee will be reconciled with the to-be-released bill from the Senate Finance Committee before being ready for full Senate debate. The Finance Committee—on which Bingaman also sits—is still debating their bill and is expected to release their markup soon.
Blue Dog Democrats are eroding the Democratic base. Democrats as a result will lose votes and elections, and even the White House in 2012 if the Democratic Party does not get it together, SOON!
