@windgapkk Well if you google "Mike's West Castleton Journal, there is quite a bit about the Delahuntys of Castlejohn who went over,one of many,the Bolgers and the Delahuntys had their own companys and made out well as did Richard McGrath who I think was from your area as well. There were a lot of the local names over there/here. In addition a great "slua" from Portroe area as well.

Great treat! Many's the family from Windgap, Ahenny, Castlejohn and environs came out to Vermont to work the slate quarries in Vermont in the 1800s. They all rest in the parish cemetery now, thousands of miles from their birthplace.
