The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) opened negotiations with AT&T on May 18, 2009, aiming to get a fair and equitable contract with the nations largest telephone company, whose net income in 2008 rose 7.7 percent to $12.9 billion. Rank-n-file IBEW Local Union 21 members, retirees, staff, and officers demonstrated their support for the IBEW bargaining team, and for CWA members across the country already deep into contract talks. Joint informational pickets in St. Louis can also be found in this solidarity slideshow of skilled workers, standing up and making sure their voices are heard.
IBEW Local Union 21 represents 10,000 workers in Illinois and NW Indiana.
