"In the sluggish carriage of the body my soul journeys through this world of illusions, which are trying to prove their existence by means of their sluggishness and massiveness"

Saint Nikolai Velimirovich
A tribute to "Death To The World" a magazine that was started by monks and nuns from the St Herman of Alaska Monastery in Platina, California, as a medium of evangelism to teens involved in the punk subculture by monastics who were ex-punks. A founding member was Justin Marler who, soon after recording Volume One with seminal doom metal band Sleep in 1991, left for seven years of monastic life while Sleep went on to become metal icons.

  • @vadermask and i assume same thing applies to your username;)?(to satisfy your curiosity,it was a sort of algorhytm for creating your name in a game, sounded unique so i stuck to it(well,i had to use numbers to cereate my channel on youtube,so i guess it isnt that unique:))).anyway my comment was refering to the fact that someone said that we take too much emphasis on the Lithurgy and too less on the Eucharist, and i suggested that the Eucharist is duting the mass

  • @beastclaw33 I like your username. I will assume that is a truthful description of your spiritual journey? I am Roman Catholic but I have been seriously exploring Orthodoxy for the past year. One of my best friends is Muslim, or at least he was semi-raised that way. He told me recently that when he was a baby him mom took him & his twin brother to get baptized Catholic! Thought that was so cool. They had to go behind his pappa's back to do it! He really doesn't practice Islam however.

  • @ExMuslim4Jesus and the eucharist is during the ...?(if you get my reference)

  • @vadermask Great to hear that, God Bless you.

  • @atonewiththedust I first read the 'zine in 1995 or so. Then I rode out to prison & stayed high for a while. Recently dug out my old 'zines and found this, just as I was re-discovering Catholicism. Contacted the zinesters and got a few newer issues. I want some of their AWESOME shirts! Now I'm studying the Orthodox religion and it is truly beautiful! Praise God for my sobriety & my life! Hardcore music & Jesus!

  • Awesome! An excellent 'zine combining two of my favorite things: Hardcore & Jesus! Got me into the Orthodox religion. Nice job.

  • @dca0068 DTTW is back now!

  • DTTW was a great help on my path to the church, many god grant you all many years and blessed times.

  • This is beautiful, but... dont wanna start a war between Orthodoxy and Catholicism. Where is the mention of Jesus? Aestheticism just for aestheticism is meaningless. Without Jesus- it is Buddhism. The Orthodox center around the Divine Liturgy. The Catholic centers around the Eucharist (ie. Jesus). Suffering for suffering's sake is void. Buddha is dead. Jesus is alive. My blood produces nothing. Jesus' Blood (suffering) produces life. Come back to Rome! Jesus loves you!!!
