Nearly five years in the making, "Call It Democracy" begins when the vote counting stopped and mainstream media coverage ended. Illuminating interviews with respected academics, Congressional representatives and ranking judges such as Alan Dershowitz, Vincent Bugliosi, Rep. John Conyers, Jessie Jackson, Jr., Greg Palast, Judge Richard Posner and others outline the reality of what it means to vote in the U.S. today.
i have no problem with a constitutional republic because like I said it ensures majority rule but minority rights which cannot be stripped away by the majority.
which democracies have ended up as dictatorships and eventually communism? you do realise there has never been a communist nation before, anyone with any understanding of political ideologies knows that communism has never occurred in the world.

@AussiePolitics
Adam Smith advocated for a Constitutional Republic, as did all the founding fathers of America. Check the Constitution to be reassured that the United States is indeed a Republic.
There is a difference between a Republic and a Democracy, a republic constraints leaders to a Constitution, whereas democracies do not limit government power. Democracies end up as dictatorships and eventually communism.
Also, Adam Smith warned about democracies.

adam smith was one of the original classical liberals and advocated a limited government. im pretty sure he reasoned that democracy was the best way to control that government. he wasnt a conservative at the time who thought the king had those kinds of rights.

@AussiePolitics
Go look at what Adam Smith had to say about democracies.

always lead to communism? if you think there has ever been a communist country in the world then you have no idea what communism is.
as churchill said, democracy is the worst system of government in the world, except for all the rest.

@AussiePolitics
Democracies lead to abuse in the voting system and have always produced communism when true democracy always leads to communism.

why does that frighten you? for all intents and purposes the US is a democracy, its republican nature is there to ensure that while there is majority rule, people still have minority rights.

What frightens me the most is people who think the United States is a democracy, when anyone who knows anything about US politics knows it's a republic.
