  • No effects? What about the wahwah saxophone in the first part?

Good effects are like more notes that the player can play. Bad effects are like pushing a button on your instrument to make it play a bunch of notes.

Chris Wood was actually a pioneer of effects on the sax. Not the only one, but one of few. There's a LOT of sax effects on Traffic records, especially in the jam era.

Quick now, who else uses effects on sax?

    Just sayin'...

  • Bobby Keyes of the Stones?

  • If I gave you everything that I owned and asked for nothing in return....would you do the same for me as I would for you?

Or take me for a ride, and strip me of everything including my pride,

But spirit is something no one can destroy...

    Singing along! Fabulous. Thank you.

    Brings back fond memories.

  • Sorry about my wording of my last post, what I meant was that during his years with Spencer Davis everyone thought he was Black because of his voice....again, no offence to anyone.......I just lost my youngest son in car accident 2 weeks ago....and my mind what little I have left of it) isn't really here

  • Classic performance. Thank you!

  • @SchmedleyDoRight Actually, I think the band were more into booze than drugs. Sax player Chris Wood basically drank himself to death- He died in 1983.

  • Everytime I think I might cut my hair I see a vid or hear a tune like this and it sets me straight

  • Drugs were involved (look at his eyeszzzzzzz.......... a little Fry-Glassy, perhaps?)

Been there; it takes one to know one.

    What an amazing jam.

  • @SweetDreamsCherry you got it man!!

  • I think ours was the only Black family to snatch up this gem as soon as we heard this cut. My brother stole it from me and played it to death.

  • Effects?! Thought Rnough was said... lol! Nothing better then getting stuck in Traffic!

  • Ahhh, jazzy-cool...the kind I can listen to.

  • @boatman1953

Don't think Bobby Keys used any effects, but Ian McDonald of King Crimson certainly did, most notably on 21st Century Schizoid Man from In the Court of the Crimson King from 1969.
